Dissolving Plastic Alternative at Plascon Plastics

Polyvinyl Alcohol, PVOH, is a type of plastic that dissolves in water. It is currently widely used in products such as laundry detergent pods and food or cosmetic containers. It is made out of three basic elements, carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

PVOH has the special trait of dissolving in cold water within hours. When it is flushed through your water system, it gets processed by a water treatment facility. Here, natural bacteria will consume the remaining PVOH and leaves you with nothing but natural bacterial, water, and carbon dioxide.

Plascon Plastic has begun producing rigid products with PVOH. Our goal is always to find new, sustainable plastic alternatives for our clients.
